TruStrength Tech focuses on the development of diagnostic and training tools, perfected by sport scientists and healthcare professionals to drive better athlete and patient outcomes. Developed through a unique relationship between Houston’s own Athlete Training and Health & New Zealand-based Auckland University of Technology, TruStrength Tech (TST) was built for coaches, trainers, physical therapists, orthopedic specialists and sports science professionals.
The TruStrength Tech Max is a mobile, wireless device that enables the generation of a reliable uniform set of force data for evaluating a user’s strength qualities, while minimizing risk to athletes and reducing the costs associated with more expensive technologies and injuries from maximal strength methods. Data collected by the device is sent to the TruStrength Tech App can provide users and their coaches with real-time actionable feedback that will inform them of a user’s maximal strength output, rate of force development, and impulse. The app provides time-stamped data, which lends itself to a great deal of flexibility in determining other variables of interest (shown below):
o Peak force – measures maximal strength of a movement at a certain time
o Mean force – measures the average strength throughout the duration of the movement
o Rate of force development (RFD) – indicates the explosive force capability of users and we have the capability of identifying this over certain time periods e.g. RFD is important in reactive type tasks such as preventing falls
o Impulse (IMP) – is the amount of force generated in a certain time period and determines the velocity of an object
The TruStrength Tech app includes a number of other features to allow the user to collect, organize, and compare a vast range of data.
o Ability to create multiple test profiles
o Ability to capture data and tag various isometric assessments including:
o Groin Squeeze Test
o Isometric Mid Thigh Pull
o Shoulder Internal and External Rotation
o Hip abduction and adduction
o Ability to set different positions during the chosen assessment, such as supine or standing
o Ability to view asymmetries (Left vs. Right)
o Ability to compare up to four assessments
The TruStrength Tech app also enables the user to modify feedback during testing and how the data is processed post-collection:
o Pre-Tension Threshold: the ability to set a minimum threshold to determine when a lift is tested
o Countdown: the ability to include a visual countdown of when to begin applying force
o Hold Duration: the ability to include a visual countdown to tell the user how long to apply force for
o Force Goal Range: the ability to include a visual feature on the live data stream to see exact force goals
o Rep Range: the option to choose between single and multi-rep sessions
